Arctic Horizons

In the heart of the Pyhä-Luosto national park, one can find a very special place, the amethyst mine of Lampivaara. This mine is probably the only non-industrial mine in Europe, and is operating with a strong concern for sustainability and nature preservation. The mine is located on top of Lampivaara hill, and benefits from one of the most incredible panorama of the national park.

For this program, I will pick you straight from your accommodation in Luosto, and we will go to take the amethyst mine "pendolino". This big snow machine will take us all the way to the top of Lampivaara, trough the beautifull arctic sceneries of the Pyhä-Luosto national park. The visit of the mine lasts one hour, and you will get the chance to try to find your own amethyst ! After the visit, we can grill some sausages, and then enjoy the famous donut off Lampivaarar cafeteria, before returning to Luosto by forest skis or snowshoes. The trip is going down most of the time, and is about 3km long, so it is not too tiring, and well suited for families. the return trip lasts usually around 1h00.  (note that you have to tell me during the booking if you want to come back by skis or snowshoes. If you want to go back by skis, make sure you read the information about our forest ski programs in the "FOREST SKIS ACTIVITY" part of the website, in order to avoid all misunderstandings about our skis.)

WALKING DISTANCE : around 3km ( around 1 hour snowshoeing) (skiing distance can be little bit longer).

PRICE : 150€+80€/person (310€ for 1 or 2 participants, 390€ for 3 participants, 470€ for 4...)

INCLUDES : private guide service, transport by "pendolino", visit of the mine, snowshoeing/skiing gear, grilled sausage and hot snack/drink by the fire.
